About Alberta One

Alberta One is a dedicated strategy where Hockey Alberta and its Minor Leagues Committee are working together to standardize leagues with each other, making for a better experience for participants and more efficient administration.

The Standardized Tiering Model is a key component of the Alberta One initiative, where Hockey Alberta and its Minor Leagues work together to build a unified structure and strategic model that enables Leagues to adopt the same tiering, seasonal structure and other operational processes.

As part of the Alberta One Initiative, Hockey Alberta has begun to implement, test and review a new Provincial Championships Trial Project in collaboration with our Minor Leagues across the Province. This new Provincial Championship Model is seen as an important part of the Alberta One Initiative, to ensure our Provincial Championship remain the pinnacle event of the hockey season.

The Minor Leagues operating under the Alberta One Initiative have agreed to operate Non-Checking / Body Contact Only hockey at the Tier 4 - 6 categories of the U15 division. This initiative to implement Non-Checking / Body Contact Only hockey is expected to provide a safer hockey environment of our participants, while also providing them more options to continue playing the game.
